Historic Doubts as to the Execution of Marshall Ney
New York: Thomas Whitaker, 1895. First Thus. Hardcover. Octavo. 6.5 x 9.25 in. vi, 310 pp. Very good in the original red cloth boards with a gold Ney medallion on the cover and gold titling on the spine, which appears slightly faded. The pages and illustrations are clean and free of markings and the binding remains in good shape. A prior owner's name appears on the inside cover, alongside a portrait of Ney. The first page has a pasted-in depiction of Ney's excecution. Newspaper articles have been similarly affixed to the back page and boards and various letters and notes on the subject of Ney's death, or lack thereof, are folded inside the text. Very good. Item #5296
A strange and thorough account of Marshal Ney's life and whereabouts following his purported exection at the order of Napoleon.
