Scarborough was a prolific author who wrote much about her home of Texas. This autobiographical work, which predates the verb "porch" inclusion in Sir James Murray's otherwise complete English dictionary, is a charming slice-of-life look at turn of the century Texas, including folklore, ghost stories, and local gossip, as observed by a "porcher" [sic]. A lovely edition.
