Originally published in 1953 in London. The Charioteer was not published in the U.S. until 1959 because Renault's American publisher (Morrow) refused to publish it due to its "positive depiction" of a homosexual love triangle. This is the 1973 Pantheon reissue of this postwar classic of gay literature.
