Octavo. 5.5 x 8 in. 259 pp. Near fine in original cloth-covered boards, paper titling affixed, which are uncommonly bright save for some very faint rubbing to board edges, and a very good pictorial dust jacket with mild sunning to spine, some creasing and foxing to lower panel, which also has a small closed tear to its head. Still, this is a nice Grosset & Dunlap first in a slightly uncommon dust jacket, which Hemingway is said to have prefered to the Scribner's jacket. Near fine / Very good. Item #9592
This first edition Grosset & Dunlap was bound using the original leaves used for the first Scribner's edition with "stairs" misspelled as "staris" on p. 169 and BOOK THREE printed on p.259 instead of following the Book I and Book II used previously to denote the different sections.
