Signed on the colophon by Alice Hargreaves, the married name of Alice Liddell, on whom Lewis Carroll based “the original Alice.” Hargreaves notably resisted signing other editions of Carroll’s Alice books until a few years before her death in 1934. on the colophon, from a limited edition of 1,500, of which this is number 1,004.
