Time for the Stars
New York: Scribner's, 1956. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Octavo. 5.5 x 8 in. 244 pp. Good in original cloth-covered boards with foxing to boards and edges, rubbing and bumping to corners, and a slightly cocked spine, in a very good pictorial dust jacket with mild sunning to spine, shallow chipping and edgewear, and a one and half inch closed tear to foot of spinal hinge, as well as a rust-like residue to spine below the N of Heinlein's name, likely caused by rubbing. A previous owner has sought to perform some internal tape repair to no avail that has only caused some toning to interior of jacket. Good / Very good. Item #9965
Signed by Heinlein on the title page, as well as inscribed on the half-title to Frank Chew, who was Vice President Treasurer at Delta airlines until his retirement in 1995. Laid-in are two hand-written letters from Heinlein to Chew, one of which is from Heinlein's personal stationery and dated the year after the book was published, as well as a receipt for the book for $2.75, and related ephemera, including a letter from the Rocket Research Institute, and a charming "Moon Tour Reservation" card from the Science Fiction Book Club.
